Méribel rentals for 6 people | Family apartments and chalets

Six people is the point at which a mountain property stops being a holiday apartment and becomes somewhere you actually live. You are no longer passing each other, you are sharing a home. The number of bathrooms matters as much as the number of beds, and the dining table becomes the centre of gravity for the week.

A good share of our properties sleep six or more, in Méribel-Mottaret as well as Méribel Centre. They are family apartments, a few large duplexes and our chalets.

Who comes to Méribel in a group of six

Two profiles dominate. The family of two adults and four children, where the central question is how the bedrooms are divided and where the kit goes. And two couples travelling together, where it is the balance between private space and shared space that decides whether the week works.

The needs are not the same. A family will happily take a room with bunk beds; two couples want two proper bedrooms, ideally with separate bathrooms. Tell us which of the two configurations applies to you, because we do not suggest the same addresses.

The bathroom question

This is the first friction point at six, before floor area even comes into it. A single bathroom for six people who all need to be on the slopes at the same time creates a queue every morning, and it lasts all week.

We always state the number of bathrooms and separate WCs on each property page. Where a property only has one, we say so plainly rather than burying it in a list of facilities.

Six real beds, not six theoretical ones

Plenty of listings reach six by counting a sofa bed in the living room. That is fair enough for three nights, much less so for a week, especially if the person sleeping there wants to turn in while everyone else is still up.

We set out the exact bed configuration: doubles, singles, bunks, sofa beds. You know before you book whether the sixth bed is a bedroom or a sofa, and you decide with that in hand.

Teenagers

A six-year-old and a sixteen-year-old do not take up the same space, either literally or in terms of comfort. Past a certain age, sharing a room with a brother or sister becomes a source of tension that weighs on the whole week.

If your group includes older teenagers, it is often better to aim for a property designed for eight rather than squeezing into six. The price difference is real, but it buys you some peace.

Cooking and eating as six

This is where a large part of the comfort is decided. At six you cook properly: meals stop being a stopgap and start structuring the day. You need worktop you can actually use, a dishwasher, and above all a table where six people genuinely fit sitting down at the same time.

Our properties of this size are equipped accordingly, with everything you need for a quick breakfast before the first lift as well as a full dinner in the evening. It is also the item on which a group of six saves the most compared with eating out.

Where to put a group of six in the valley

Le Laitelet, in Méribel-Mottaret, has the largest concentration of our big apartments. It is the highest area in the valley, plugged straight into the ski area, and the one where you ski from the door without argument.

Méribel Centre works on a different logic: a little lower down, but with the shops, the ski school and the restaurants within walking distance. For a group of six where not everyone skis at the same pace, that proximity changes a great deal.

Village or resort

Méribel Village, Chandon and Les Allues offer a quieter, more village-like setting, and often a bit more space for the same budget. The trade-off is a link to take to reach the ski area.

That choice mainly depends on your plans. If the week is entirely given over to skiing, go higher. If it includes days off the snow, walks and unhurried meals, the lower valley makes a strong case.

Ski-in ski-out and parking: the two criteria that count at six

The bigger the group, the heavier the logistics. Carrying six pairs of skis to a shuttle stop twice a day turns the stay into a chore. Our ski-in ski-out selection removes that problem.

Parking follows the same logic: at six you often drive up in two cars. Our properties with parking included save you from hunting for a space in peak season, and from hunting for it again every day.

Apartment or chalet for six

A large apartment suits six perfectly and remains the cheaper option. It gives you a shared living room, separate bedrooms and most of the services of a residence, ski locker included.

A chalet brings something else: independence, no immediate neighbours, and generally more volume. It is a step up in budget, and it mainly makes sense if the group intends to spend time in the property.

The duplex, the sensible compromise

Several of our properties for six are duplexes. Splitting the levels neatly settles the question of living together: you can put the children to bed without imposing silence on the rest of the group.

It is also the layout that works best for two couples, each with a floor to themselves and real privacy, without moving up to a much more expensive property.

What is included in every stay

Beds are made up for your arrival and the end-of-stay clean is included. For six people, those two items add up to a meaningful sum when they are charged separately, which is common elsewhere.

We are a local management team based in the valley: you have a single point of contact, reachable on the spot, from the first exchange through to your departure. With a group of six and the surprises that come with it, that counts.

Getting things ready before you arrive

Lift passes, ski lessons and equipment hire can all be arranged in advance. At six, kitting everyone out on the first morning easily means an hour and a half of queuing if nothing has been prepared.

Send us the sizes, the levels and the ages, and we will handle the rest. On a changeover Saturday, that is the difference between skiing in the afternoon and giving up on it.

When to book for six people

Properties of this size are fewer in number than one-bedroom apartments, and they go noticeably earlier. For Christmas, New Year and the February holidays, the booking is decided several months ahead.

January, March and early April leave far more choice, at gentler rates. For a group of six, that is often the best balance between budget, availability and snow quality.

A week as six, hour by hour

In the morning, six people get ready at the same time: it is the most strained moment of the day, and the one that sets the general mood. A property properly designed for six has an entrance where you can get your kit on without treading on each other, and somewhere to keep six pairs of ski boots out of the way.

In the evening it is the reverse: everyone comes back at once, wet, tired and hungry. The ski locker, the boot dryer and the capacity of the dishwasher then matter more than the view from the balcony.

Skiing with mixed abilities

A group of six almost always includes a beginner and a confident skier. Méribel lends itself to that: the ski area is large, and several easy sectors are reachable directly from the higher areas without crossing the resort.

The budget for a week as six

Per person, a well-filled property for six often works out cheaper than a one-bedroom apartment used by a couple. It is one of the rare cases in the mountains where taking something bigger brings the individual cost down.

Meals eaten in the property weigh just as much. At six, cooking twice a day is a substantial saving over the week, provided the kitchen is genuinely sized for it — something we check on site, not on a floor plan.

Common questions about rentals for six

Can you add a seventh person? That depends on the property and its real bed configuration. Ask us rather than assume: at some addresses it is comfortable, at others it is not.

Is there a cot? We can provide one at most of our properties. Flag it when you book, not on arrival.

How many cars can you park? A space is included with many of our properties; a second is possible at certain residences. Tell us the number of vehicles from the outset.
